{"title":"Peonies - Itohs","description":"We are seeing some fantastic results from our first Itoh peonies in the garden. These peonies are also called intersectional peonies and are a cross between herbaceous and tree peonies.  The first successful crosses were the life’s work of Toichi Itoh achieved in 1948 in Japan. The results of the crosses are incredible! They display huge blooms, tree peony foliage, more vigorous growth than either and lots of flowers over a longer period. They also die back to the ground like a herbaceous peony. For best results pH 6.5. They also need a few good frosts and a cold winter. They are still rare and difficult to get.
