Heleniums are very hardy and thrive well in average to wet soil. They prefer a full sun position but will struggle in dry soils. Scatter slug pellets when new shoots emerge. They need to be watered well especially during the dry season. Deadheading will extend the flowering season but once they start to die back, the flower stems need to be cut down to almost ground level to encourage more shoots.
