Farming Manager
Location: Table Cape, North West Tasmania, Australia
Package: AUD $75,000 - $90,000 per annum (inclusive of salary and housing valued at $20,000 per year). Depending on experience and skills.

Van Diemen Quality Bulbs, a fourth-generation, family-owned farm, is seeking an experienced Farming Manager to join our innovative team. With over 100 years of farming heritage, we blend tradition with cutting-edge horticultural practices. Located in the stunning Table Cape region, our farm offers the opportunity to work in one of Tasmania’s most beautiful landscapes, just a short drive from local shops and the city of Burnie.

The farm is currently transitioning to the next generation, maintaining our commitment to growth and seizing new opportunities in the horticultural industry. Our Business is involved in 4 key areas, flower bulb production, general Farming, mail Order (direct sales) and seasonal tourism. We offer a dynamic and varied work environment, supported by training in production systems, with a focus on teamwork and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Support areas of general farming and flower bulbs production.
• Support and manage the preparation, planting, maintenance, and harvesting of bulbs and field crops.
• Oversee and perform repairs and maintenance of farm and shed machinery
• Implement practices to enhance soil health and crop quality
• Manage and lead staff, ensuring safe, efficient, and process-driven operations
• Contribute to problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications and Skills

• Detail-oriented with a commitment to process improvement and best practices
• Proven experience in farming or horticulture.
• Mechanical aptitude in managing and maintaining farming machinery
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to train and manage staff
• Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written, in English
